it feels good :)

i bought myself two books today, first official books of 2009 that I'll be reading on. First book is Carrie Fisher's Wishful Drinking.. and Steve Martin's Born Standing Up. I was interested in buying Steve Martin's book when I saw him do SNL a week or two ago. I heard he was a wonderful writer so I looked up what he wrote and I decided to pick up his autobiography. When I went to Borders today I saw Carrie Fishers book in the front, guess it was a new release. Also about Carrie Fisher even though I know everyone knows her from Star Wars (like duh..), but I also knew she's the daughter of Debbie Reynolds, a very funny person, and an acclaimed writer as well. Also.. why do I have a feeling that I might have a lot in common with her? Could it be the forever sucking vortex of Nerdworld, the almost royalty status of mommy and a developed sharp wit n talent?

I hate saying stuff like that about me, but I'm trying to be blunt an honest nowadays.. and less bashful.

Late Night Drawings

My Dad had asked me to scan some documents for him this evening before bed. I told him that the new printer/scanner we have is down (its a crappy $85 HP Printer that was supposedly "state of the art," but I've noticed that stores have been cutting down its price or attaching it to packages and deals just to get rid of the product.. for it is LAME). So, I said that I'll scan it with my scanner that I had put away. He didn't care, "Whatever."

And since I had set up the scanner with my laptop neatly on my bed, I thought that I might as well draw some stuff, scan them, and post them online. And so I did.

Drew myself on my way to school, which I'll be doing tomorrow. First official day for me this 2009 Spring semester. Little on the schooling, a lot on the job hopefully *wish me luck!*

This chick's attire is based from the fashion magazine ELLE's website where it does a STREET CHIC blog. The exact that this was based off can be viewed if you click here.

I drew this originally on Jan 5th. I was smoking some hookah at a friends place and usually hookah gets me very inspired and I get in a draw-y mood ten fold. I kept feeling breezy and flowy in the wind and I wanted to capture it. I was feeling very chill, relaxed, and pleased. I was feeling less with the happy and jubilation but I felt like giving this girl a smile and that feel at the end.

Thanks for viewing todays quick sketch blog. Tomorrow I'll be signing up and running around campus looking for a concrete class schedule and it'd be all good from there. Currently it's pouring VERY hard.. hope that it doesn't interfere too much tomorrow.. Gotta take the bus and whatnot :(

Sesame Street and Muppets

So my brother and I were on youtube all weekend and we were watching clips from our youth.. realizing that the stuff we grew up on actually had a lot of comedy intelligence backing it up. I had totally forgot about the two headed monsters

and also Grover.

My brother and I came to the conclusion that they need to bring back monsters on Sesame Street, they were great. And Elmo's a weak little representation of what true monsters are supposed to be.

Anyway, this is what's been cracking me up:

Then, like whenever I get on youtube and start digressing, I remembered another puppet related clip that always made me laugh. And it was a levi's commercial with a yellow puppet, hella bobbing his head out to the techno music:

His name is Flat Eric, and he was originally from the music video for this song by Mr. Oizo - Flat Beat. Made me want to go search for it online and buy my own Flat Eric, and then I wanted to buy a puppet so I can mess with one on my own and make little shorts.

Anyway, to cut things short, i plan on making my own puppet when I get the time. Much cheaper, and easier for me so I can make exactly what I want. I went to How to Make a Muppet and it seems simple enough. When I get time, here's another project for myself :). In the meantime.. should be goin off to bed now.

Late Post - Birthdays

Feel like posting these clips now from my siblings recent birthdays. My brother Justin, who I call Abung (means older brother in Indonesian), turned 25 on Christmas (12/25/83). Leliane, my younger sister, turned 19 this past Sunday (1/4/90). I take a crazy amount of pictures each time, however these are my favorites.

I had made my brother a cake the previous night at Gabe's house. It was just instant cake, I didn't have as much money as I'd like to make it even more special, and also I had messed up on it several times and this was the only good take. It was good though, next year I'll make a super duper Dr. Suess cake with colors and whatnot. That night he didn't want to do anything and we just stayed in. It was a quiet and chill Christmas.

Leliane's birthday we had gone to San Francisco and her plan was to go ice skating in Union Square and then go eat at Blondie's Pizza. That afternoon while we got ready, she asked if it would be better if we ate at the Ghiradelli factory. I said it was up to her, and then she changed her mind and the plan was changed to eat there.

...Leliane didn't plan anything consistant. Once we got to Union Square the ice rink was "too small," and she didn't want to skate. We ended up walking around Union Square, then we headed toward the Cannery behind Ghiradelli. We find out there's no specific Ghiradelli factory restaraunt..

so ...instead we go to South San Francisco near the airport to eat at Beijing Buffet. ...What the hell Leliane.

And here she is talking to herself after the whole night. She was changing the bed covers and she didn't realize I was recording.

..My family.

Princess Jasmine

I was stumbling through sites for inspiration. Can't force these things ya know? And I looked her up, and I realize I never drew her before and she's the one Disney Princess I really like (and her name being real similar to mine is a major plus too).

And here's the image I'm basing it all off of too:

Really memorable scene/image of her. I'm actually gonna move on from this point. I don 't wanna work on this too hard. I started on coloring it, but I'm actually gonna experiment and use the pen tool through illustrator. Completely vectorize this piece..however.. I just don't feel like it at this point. I feel like working with colored pencils or markers. Get off the computer for a bit and put something tangible. So.. be right back again :D

Ok, more sketches!

Starting on the sketches again. Listening to old school hip hop like Slick Rick and classic Ice Cube. And once in a while Busta Rhymes - Arab Money (remix) -- "Bismill hirRah Manir-Rahim! Al Hamdulilla-hiRabbil Alameen!" OOOh.. -this songs the issh, SON :D!

SO fun.

Anyways.. back to the drawing.

2008 - Back to Reality

I finally had the guts to check my grades for Fall 2008. I have two Bs and an F. Sucks.. but I deserve all those grades. I didn't give the proper time to my Art 28 class. Also, since I didn't pay for my classes on time, I was dropped from all of them, and being the procrastinator that I am, I am now waitlisted. I kind of wanted that effect too... money's hard and I didn't want to ask for that much money right now from my family. Classes don't start again until Jan 22, I'll be hunting classes down again like how I did last year. I'll get the proper classes that I need. If the schedules work out, and if I get a proper job, I'm going to get Art 28 with the same teacher again. Once again I deserved that F. If I get that class, I'll only have just that class and show some A work.

Once again, back to reality, I have to find a job and work hard at that too, so honestly I won't be in school as hard as I was. I'm only looking for 1-2 classes and light weight work. Summer time I'll be focusing on GE classes again too.

Enough of this about the classes.

NYE was cool. Got to hang out with my cousins and I even got to meet up with Mel. We miss each other, and she was a little on the drunk side... later on I'll be meeting up with her to talk again.

I remember I was talking to my cousin last night about New Years Resolutions. I only have one:

Take better care of myself.

That's it.

Custom Sketchbook Part 1 ~ The Epiphany

Before going to sleep I decided to go stumbling through other blogs and I found this site http://signeersessies.blogspot.com/. Real cool artist, I suggest you look through his site too, ver inspiring especially with the light line quality he has. I don't have to double ink my shit to be pretty, and thank you for that different perspective :). However, I did notice this:

The guy has his own customized sketch book. Says "Sketches" at the top and some other watermark at the bottom.

And now I've just thought of the bestest gift to give myself for the new year... a customized sketchbook! I know how to use InDesign and I know the workings on how to make a book... I should do it! I'm gonna call up Kelly's Paper, see the best type of paper for drawing.. and then print out a special page and whatnot, get it made at Kinkos --it'll be the shit :D!

"And then I woke up, seeing myself apart of a zombie march."

And I finally colored something. It's been.. the longest time. And even though I find this a simple piece because it didn't take long to create, its what I wanted to make. This is how I was last year. Waking up to the social world and its deeper networkings... and where I stood in that huge web.

Another thing about this piece that I like, is that I got it on point. Took me a real long time to get to where i can vision something in my head, and put what I had exactly on my mind, onto paper.

It's a good feelin'.

And you know what else is a good feelin'? Going to sleep on a Saturday Night of just pure chill. no driving, no homework, no work, no errands, no nothing. A nothing day.. just to do whatever I wanted to do, which was draw and create a blog. Tomorrow.. I plan to read.

Wohoo!

Ok I'm back

And this official day is almost close to being over, but I said I'd be back.. SNL rerun on w/ Josh Brolin and musical guest Adele. So far the special celebrity guests that just came on were Tina Fey, Sarah Palin, Lorne Michaels, Alec Baldwin, Mark Whalberg, Oliver Stone... I love SNL. Star power recognizes comedy/talent when it comes on. ...ANYWAY:

i showed this to Gabe, and he asked me if that was me. I said, "No, nobody. Just a drawing." I used to wear a red hunter cap like that. Can't help it, character has my clothes.. sorta looks like me.

then i finally drew me with the hunter cap. gonna color this tonight on the photoshop. haven't used this version of photoshop yet ..on my computer/mac :D! excited.

so yeah, nice little start. gonna continue :). For now, gonna watch the rest of SNL, and color this picture. will blog back with post haste.

FIRST!

SO,

I've created this blogspot just for me. The myspace, the xanga, the facebook, the whatever.. I don't mind to network with people out there and add buddies/friends, its just not the point of all this. Not to hate on those networks, but I just chose this medium because I like the layout and I want a fresh start in putting my artwork and thoughts up. It's gonna feel good. This is gonna be my site :).

And after completing my first year at SJSU and my first huge focus back into art again, I'm gonna push for my personal works once more. I had put that stuff aside for waaay too long, it's very unfair to myself. My ART 50 class, I had to look up 100 Artists of my liking and create this massive book. Sadly I didn't finish the book but I turned in what I had, but I still learned a lot and became more appreciative of who I look up to for inspiration. I had focused on the fine art, conceptual, comic, and cartoon artists. I looked them up and compiled a great list, and I still have a great folder of pieces here and there on what they created. Here's my list of inpirational artists:

The * mean double page spread. I had to make a book for ART 50. I had to draw 100 drawings, look up 100 Artists, and do 100 masterwork studies, meaning find a drawing that was done by a professional and do a quick sketch of it. So, I did a masterwork study of each artist I looked up. Sounds a lot, and it was alot... I didn't finish because my time management skills suck right now! ..Next year everything will be much more different!

ANYWAY.. I digress. I created this site so I can hurry up and post some stuff up. ..but first I gotta make some stuff. I don't have anything recent and complete to put up so I'm gonna get started now. Sites I pull inspiration from that aren't from one of those Artist's homepage would be www.notcot.org, cghub.com, imdb.com, ..and script-o-rama.com. Yeah I write too ;)

So.. I'll be right back. Peace!
