Custom Sketchbook Part 1 ~ The Epiphany

Before going to sleep I decided to go stumbling through other blogs and I found this site http://signeersessies.blogspot.com/. Real cool artist, I suggest you look through his site too, ver inspiring especially with the light line quality he has. I don't have to double ink my shit to be pretty, and thank you for that different perspective :). However, I did notice this:

The guy has his own customized sketch book. Says "Sketches" at the top and some other watermark at the bottom.

And now I've just thought of the bestest gift to give myself for the new year... a customized sketchbook! I know how to use InDesign and I know the workings on how to make a book... I should do it! I'm gonna call up Kelly's Paper, see the best type of paper for drawing.. and then print out a special page and whatnot, get it made at Kinkos --it'll be the shit :D!

"And then I woke up, seeing myself apart of a zombie march."

And I finally colored something. It's been.. the longest time. And even though I find this a simple piece because it didn't take long to create, its what I wanted to make. This is how I was last year. Waking up to the social world and its deeper networkings... and where I stood in that huge web.

Another thing about this piece that I like, is that I got it on point. Took me a real long time to get to where i can vision something in my head, and put what I had exactly on my mind, onto paper.

It's a good feelin'.

And you know what else is a good feelin'? Going to sleep on a Saturday Night of just pure chill. no driving, no homework, no work, no errands, no nothing. A nothing day.. just to do whatever I wanted to do, which was draw and create a blog. Tomorrow.. I plan to read.

Wohoo!

Ok I'm back

And this official day is almost close to being over, but I said I'd be back.. SNL rerun on w/ Josh Brolin and musical guest Adele. So far the special celebrity guests that just came on were Tina Fey, Sarah Palin, Lorne Michaels, Alec Baldwin, Mark Whalberg, Oliver Stone... I love SNL. Star power recognizes comedy/talent when it comes on. ...ANYWAY:

i showed this to Gabe, and he asked me if that was me. I said, "No, nobody. Just a drawing." I used to wear a red hunter cap like that. Can't help it, character has my clothes.. sorta looks like me.

then i finally drew me with the hunter cap. gonna color this tonight on the photoshop. haven't used this version of photoshop yet ..on my computer/mac :D! excited.

so yeah, nice little start. gonna continue :). For now, gonna watch the rest of SNL, and color this picture. will blog back with post haste.

FIRST!

SO,

I've created this blogspot just for me. The myspace, the xanga, the facebook, the whatever.. I don't mind to network with people out there and add buddies/friends, its just not the point of all this. Not to hate on those networks, but I just chose this medium because I like the layout and I want a fresh start in putting my artwork and thoughts up. It's gonna feel good. This is gonna be my site :).

And after completing my first year at SJSU and my first huge focus back into art again, I'm gonna push for my personal works once more. I had put that stuff aside for waaay too long, it's very unfair to myself. My ART 50 class, I had to look up 100 Artists of my liking and create this massive book. Sadly I didn't finish the book but I turned in what I had, but I still learned a lot and became more appreciative of who I look up to for inspiration. I had focused on the fine art, conceptual, comic, and cartoon artists. I looked them up and compiled a great list, and I still have a great folder of pieces here and there on what they created. Here's my list of inpirational artists:

The * mean double page spread. I had to make a book for ART 50. I had to draw 100 drawings, look up 100 Artists, and do 100 masterwork studies, meaning find a drawing that was done by a professional and do a quick sketch of it. So, I did a masterwork study of each artist I looked up. Sounds a lot, and it was alot... I didn't finish because my time management skills suck right now! ..Next year everything will be much more different!

ANYWAY.. I digress. I created this site so I can hurry up and post some stuff up. ..but first I gotta make some stuff. I don't have anything recent and complete to put up so I'm gonna get started now. Sites I pull inspiration from that aren't from one of those Artist's homepage would be www.notcot.org, cghub.com, imdb.com, ..and script-o-rama.com. Yeah I write too ;)

So.. I'll be right back. Peace!
